Land deal unlocks 250 homes in Derby

Up to 250 new homes are to be built on the outskirts of Derby following a land deal on a 25 acre site.

Persimmon Homes will build the houses on the site fronting Mansfield Road in Oakwood after a deal brokered by Innes England.

Three miles north east of the city centre, the site has outline planning consent for up to 250 dwellings across some 18 acres.

Robert Hartley, chairman at Innes England, said: “Oakwood is a popular suburb on the outskirts of Derby city centre, which benefits from a host of local amenities including shops, good primary schools and a leisure centre.

“It is within easy reach of the city but also has lovely open countryside nearby and is adjacent to Chaddesden Wood. Breadsall Priory and Morley Hayes are also only a few miles away.”

Persimmon Homes says it will start work on site once all necessary consents have been put in place. The scheme is set to include a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes.

Liam Scott, deputy managing director at Persimmon Homes, said: “The site at Oakwood is in a great location and our plans will ensure that a range of homes are developed to support the demand in the area.

“We’ve been actively building homes in Derbyshire for a number of years and this latest deal is testament to our commitment to further extending our operations.

“Persimmon Homes has a great reputation for delivering much-needed homes and we’re sure the local community will benefit from the increased number of houses available.”

The landowner is actively seeking planning permission for a second phase of development comprising 16 acres.
