Region’s best beers to be showcased at local festival

A seven-day Spring ‘Local Beer’ Festival is set to begin in Derbyshire at the end of this month.

The festival, which will take place in a refurbished barn at Morley Hayes, will offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy the very best that Derbyshire and the nearby areas have to offer whilst sampling a wide range of locally brewed ales, beers and ciders.

More than 18 different casks of draught beer and cider will be available, from brewers including Nutbrook, Dancing Duck, Derby Brewing Co, Amber Ales, Derventio, Falstaff, Leadmill, Peak Ales, Tollgate, Brampton, Shottle Farm, Raw, Ashover Cider Company and Three Cats.

Commenting on staging their first ever Beer Festival, Andrew Allsop, managing director of Morley Hayes, said: “Our guest beers are always very popular in our Dovecote restaurant, Roosters and Spike Bars, so we decided to stage our very own Spring Beer Festival this year.

“Over the past few weeks, we’ve been busy refurbishing one of the original farm buildings specially for the event, so we can promise visitors a fantastic selection of beers, ales and ciders, served in a fantastic setting.

“Morley Hayes is conveniently located on the H1 and Y1 routes from Derby to Heanor too, so it’s the perfect excuse to leave the car at home and really enjoy a tipple!”

The festival will be open from 12 noon on Sunday April 30, Monday 1, and Saturday May 6; from 4pm on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4t May; and from 2pm on Friday 5 May, with the bar set to close at 10.30pm each evening.
