On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

The East Midlands offices of Mazars, the accountancy and advisory firm, have announced three promotions.

Pete Wood has been promoted to corporate finance director, while Vardi Bhalla and Katrina Ford-Marsden make the step up to assistant tax manager.

Alistair Wesson, East Midlands managing partner at Mazars, said: “I’d like to congratulate Pete, Katrina and Vardi on their promotions, and look forward to seeing them grow their own careers – and Mazars – in the future. All three have become invaluable members of the team, and their promotions show just how much Mazars is committed to developing the talent of the future.”

Matt Blake has been promoted to the role of director at Ilkeston-based Bedrock Tax.

Blake is a founding member of Bedrock Tax which formed in 2015. He gained his Law degree from Nottingham Trent University before entering the world of tax with a role in HMRC’s Criminal Investigation Department.

He has also worked for specialist tax advisory and litigation support companies as well as PKF in Nottingham where he was a VAT manager.

Blake said: “I’m delighted to be made a Director of Bedrock, as this is an exciting time for the company. We’re finding there’s a real demand for our services particularly from accountants that need tax expertise that doesn’t threaten their client relationships. The whole team is committed to providing straight forward tax advice that is jargon free.”

Bedrock director Lisa Topliss said: “I’m really pleased that Matt is joining me as a director of Bedrock. Together with the rest of our team the company will continue to grow as we have a fantastic team in place who provide a quality service providing tax advice to accountants and their clients.”
