New four-star hotel for Leicester revealed

The first four-star hotel that will form part of the 650,000 sq ft regeneration of Leicester’s Waterside area has been named.

AccorHotels will operate a Novotel and Adagio hotel under a franchise agreement with Charles Street Buildings Group, that will be operated by Interstate.

The hotel will have 250 rooms in total, 150 rooms as a Novotel and 100 rooms as an Adagio. This new signing will be the first Novotel/Adagio combination hotel and the first Adagio franchised hotel in the UK.

The hotel will be located opposite the High Cross Shopping Centre at Vaughan Way in Leicester and is currently going through planning permission. It is scheduled to open in early 2019, alongside new build offices, a restoration of the former Leicester Central railway station and a new public area to be known as Great Central Square.

Thomas Dubaere, managing director of AccorHotels UK & Ireland, said: “The Novotel network in the UK is showing strong growth, with the signing in Leicester complementing recent announcements in Canary Wharf, Heathrow and Stansted. We are seeking further growth and our development team is actively seeking new opportunities to add to our portfolio across our brands, particularly in the economy and midscale segments. The blend of Novotel and Adagio offers guests in Leicester a choice without compromising on quality; a hotel experience in Novotel or the comforts of an apartment style room in Adagio.”

Joseph Murphy of CSB (franchisee) added: “AccorHotels is a highly prestigious international hotel group, whom we are proud to partner with. This is our first partnership with AccorHotels and the relationship is an important one for us.

“As a Leicester based company we are proud to bring the quality of Novotel and Adagio to our city centre as part of the wider regeneration programme that we are undertaking and the transformation the city is undergoing.”
