Housebuilder completes Matlock land deal
Richborough Estates has completed the sale of a 17-acre development site with views out to Riber Castle near Matlock in Derbyshire to William Davis Homes.
Richborough Estates had already secured planning consent for the delivery of up to 110 homes on the site. However, responding to changes in market demand for a greater number of family homes William Davis Homes secured reserved matters planning consent for 86 homes.
Steve Louth, director at Richborough Estates, said: “William Davis Homes is a widely known and very well respected housebuilder in the Midlands. The quality of their homes is outstanding as demonstrated at the nearby Morledge site, and to our minds they are the perfect company to deliver high quality housing in keeping with the character of the town.
“It was important for us to ensure that the plans for this site retain a significant quantum of open space for use by new and existing residents and we feel confident that this development will be a great addition to Matlock and provide much needed homes to the region.”
Peter Waterfield, land manager at William Davis Homes, said: “The site acquired by Richborough is in a prime location and will include a complete range of family homes for the people of Matlock and the surrounding area. We’re confident it will become a first-class development.”
The site, which has a land value in the region of £4m, was promoted by Richborough Estates on behalf of the Presentation Sisters Trustees, an order of nuns whose convent is situated adjacent to the development plot.
Funds from the land sale will go towards the upkeep of the convent building and enable the Sisters to continue their charitable activities across the country.
