Housebuilder pledges £1.5m to support new Staffordshire development
More than £1.5m is set to be invested in Burton-upon-Trent as a result of a new housing development.
The funding, which totals £1,542,213, forms part of the planning agreement for the new David Wilson Homes’ Shepherd’s Rest development, located on Forest Road.
The money is being used to support services and improve facilities for both new and existing residents of the area.
Among the contributions is more than £750,000 towards education in the area, including primary, secondary and post 16 schooling.
John Reddington, managing director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “Investing in local communities is an extremely important part of building a new housing development.
“As Shepherd’s Rest begins to progress we will not only be contributing to the area financially, but also in terms of the jobs we have created for local people and the quality homes we are building.”
Specific contributions include:
• Off-Site Highways Contribution – £120,487
• Primary Education – £328,365
• Secondary Education – £353,425
• Sixth Form Education – £76,659
• Traffic Calming contribution – £17,010
• Affordable Housing Contribution – £646,265
The development comprises a mix of three, four and five bedroom homes.
Homes at the development go on sale in July from the housebuilder’s nearby development at Drakelow Park. The onsite sales centre and show homes will be opening in August.
