Three companies from the East Midlands have been ranked in this year’s Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 league table, which lists Britain’s private technology, media and telecoms (TMT) companies with the fastest-growing sales.

All three of the region’s companies are based in Nottingham, with consumer finance provider Oakbrook coming top in 16th place with annual sales growth over the last three years of 155%. The company employs 98 staff in Nottingham and had sales of £40.4m last year.

Energy software developer ENSEK is in 46th place. The company employs 110 staff in Nottingham and has sales of £6.2 and annual sales growth of 88%.

Nottingham-based UNiDAYS, which can instantly verify students for retail brands using its technology, is in 51st place. It says its website and mobile app are used by 10m students worldwide, to access brands including Apple, Asos, Virgin and McDonald’s. Sales hit £27.4m in 2018.

The companies in the East Midlands appear with businesses from around Britain, including currency transfer provider TransferWise, peer-to-peer lending platform Funding Circle and online entertainment community LADBible Group. Past stars range from travel search engine Skyscanner, which was bought by Ctrip, China’s largest travel company, for £1.4bn in 2016, to listed takeaway website Just Eat, now worth £5bn.
