Auction firm expands Nottingham HQ

John Pye Auctions has announced further expansion of its Nottingham headquarters with two salerooms set to open in the city where the UK’s largest auction house network was first established over 50 years ago.

The investment will bring the total number of salerooms at the Nottingham site to nine while increasing the overall retail and vehicles sale space to 72,500 sq. ft.

Ten jobs will be created across the new salerooms, the first of which is set to open later this week.

Doors will open for public viewing every Wednesday between 4:30pm and 7:30pm and customers can browse hundreds of products on display including a large selection of musical instruments.
The second saleroom will open in May.

The salerooms will also include warranty auctions as part of the new company division – John Pye Technical, offering refurbished tech items complete with parts and labour warranties.

Associate director and site manager, Mike Vitale, said: “I joined John Pye Auctions over 12 years ago, and it’s been fantastic to see the company grow from strength to strength in that time, expanding regionally, nationally and internationally.

“The expansion of the Nottingham headquarters and the new showrooms will give us the much-needed additional floorspace to showcase the thousands of products coming through our auctions every week.”

The news comes just weeks after the announcement that John Pye Auctions has opened its second largest auction facility in Chesterfield, boasting 233,000 sq. ft of sale space which will host up to 14 individual salesrooms.

Adam Pye, managing director, said: “The company began in Nottingham over 50 years ago and we are thrilled to be investing in our headquarters in the city where it all began.

“2019 will be an exciting year as we continue to expand rapidly to meet the growing supplier demand. In the first quarter of this year, we’ve already opened our second largest auction facility in the prime location of Chesterfield and we won’t be stopping there.”
