Mike Ashley re-elected as Sports Direct CEO
Mike Ashley has been overwhelmingly voted back onto the Sports Direct board as chief executive at the company’s AGM.
Shareholders of the Shirebrook firm voted over 90% in favour of Ashley remaining in his position.
The news will be something of a boost for Ashley after a year of bad headlines and plunging profits.
As we reported earlier, Sports Direct is still trying to resolve its auditor issues after Grant Thornton gave notice last month. The company has gone back to the Big Four accountancy firms to try and persuade them to pitch for the job.
