Work completes on £4.2m refurbishment at St George’s Park

The final phase of a major £4.2 million refurbishment at St. George’s Park in Burton-on-Trent has now been completed.

Work on the four-star Hilton hotel at the National Football Centre began this August, and its completion marks the conclusion of an extensive refurbishment programme which began in 2017.

The investment began with a soft refurbishment of the hotel’s 500-seater Sir Bobby Robson Ballroom, together with its reception area and education wing, which includes 19 meeting rooms and a 90-seater lecture theatre.

This was followed by improvements to the executive lounge and hotel bar area and a revamp of the hotel’s 100-seater executive drum events space.

General manager Nicola Underhill said: “The Hilton at St. George’s Park caters for the most diverse range of customers within the Hilton UK group due to our unique position geographically, and it’s our responsibility to ensure every single one of them receives the same level of service and has the very best experience.

“Our refurbishment programme is crucial to fulfilling that promise to our customers, who love our beautiful green location and unique hotel design and ultimately want to enjoy a unique and special experience when they visit us.

“This investment will ensure we continue to successfully attract both business and leisure customers, and with bookings coming in thick and fast for Christmas and New Year already, its completion before our busiest period is perfectly timed.”

St. George’s Park is situated on grounds that were once part of the Bass Brewery family estate, and is now home to all 28 English football teams.
