M1 closed in Derbyshire following serious collision

The M1 in Derbyshire is currently closed northbound between J28 (A38, Mansfield) and J29 (A617, Chesterfield) due to a serious traffic collision that occurred earlier this morning.

Derbyshire Police are in attendance, and collision investigation work will take place before the scene can be cleared. There are long delays on approach from both the M1 and A38.

Closures are expected to remain in place through the morning peak period.

A statement from Highways England said: “For traffic approaching the closure locally, you are advised to expect disruption with extra journey time and may potentially have to re-route your journey.”
