Ambitious logistics group sets £1bn turnover target

Andrew Baxter

A Nottingham-based logistics firm says it wants to break through the £1 billion turnover barrier after posting its strongest results to date.

Europa Worldwide Group, which employs over 950 staff, has seen its turnover increase three-fold and its profitability 16-fold since it was acquired by director Andrew Baxter in 2013.

In its annual results for the year ending 31 December 2018, Europa posted a company-record turnover of £180 million – a figure which has since grown to £205 million – and profits of £5.2 million, which have now risen to £6 million.

Now, Baxter says he wants to reach the £1 billion mark through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth.

He said: “Since taking over the company six years ago, my strategy was to put every piece of profit back into the business and this has certainly paid off. Across every division, we’ve seen fantastic results, and as we look ahead to 2020 and our vision for the future, we have set out plans to deliver exciting innovations, game-changing initiatives and outstanding efforts in every single area of the business.”

The independent logistics operator has six divisions – Europa Road, Europa Air & Sea, Europa Showfreight, Europa Warehouse, Europa Contact Centre and Continental Cargo Carriers – with 16 sites in the UK, Hong Kong and Belgium.
