330 jobs to go at Marks and Spencer distribution hub

Marks and Spencer is set to shut its Long Eaton Distribution Centre with the loss of up to 330 jobs, according to reports.

BBC East Midlands Today reports that the site, which is run by DHL, will shut by Spring of next year.

An M&S spokesperson told the BBC: “We’re in the early stages of changing our supply chain to address flow of product and availability for our customers.

“As part of this we’ll no longer be serving out stores from our Long Eaton Distribution Centre.

“Moving the operations is not a decision we’ve taken lightly but it’s an important change to help us best serve our customers.

“Our logistics partner will be working closely with colleagues at the site on what is best for them.”
