Housebuilders sought for ‘cracking’ 8-acre site

A Leicestershire site which has planning permission for 70 homes is up for sale.

Rigby & Co brokered the deal for The Spinney, an 8-acre site in Brooksby.

The site is owned by the recently merged SMB Group and was previously part of Brooksby Melton College’s further educational offer at Brooksby.

The College has worked in collaboration with Melton Borough Council to reposition the previously agreed Section 106 agreement, which led to revised planning approval being granted at a virtual committee meeting which took place on 9 April.

“All receipts generated from the sale will be a reinvested into improving the educational resources for the SMB Group, providing benefits for learners, residents and businesses in the Melton Mowbray area.”

Russell Rigby, managing director of consultants Rigby & Co, added: “The recent planning variation has helped liberate the site at Brooksby from many of the previous restrictions which were preventing it from being sold.

“This is a cracking site in a very attractive rural setting with frontage to the A607 between Melton Mowbray and Leicester. We are keen to engage with developers and house builders quickly, so this site can be brought forward as soon as practically possible.”
