The plan to mass test people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has been confirmed by local bodies after the the public health director for Nottinghamshire issued a statement on the Government initiative.

Talks have reportedly been ongoing for some time around the logistics of the mass Covid-19 testing plan, but Jonathan Gribbin admits nothing has been set in stone as yet as to how up to 20,000 people a week will be able to access the new service.

Gribbin said: “We can confirm that Nottinghamshire has been offered a supply of lateral flow tests. It’s too early to comment on how this will be deployed across the county, but we welcome any measures that strengthen our test and trace capabilities.”

Nottingham and the wider county will be one of 66 areas around the country to roll out the new testing kits, which can give a results in under an hour.
