Housebuilder set to invest over £1m in local community
Miller Homes is set to invest more than £1m in local services, schools, amenities and open spaces in Desford, as part of its Dukes Field development.
The homebuilder, which started work on its Dukes Field development on Barns Way earlier this year, is contributing more than £600,000 of the funds towards the Desford Community Primary School and to Bosworth Academy Secondary School, which sits across the road from the housing development. The investment will go towards extending facilities at both schools to accommodate for the increase in families falling within their catchment areas.
Miller Homes is also contributing more than £50,000 to the Desford Medical Centre and the Ratby Surgery on the outskirts of Leicester. These funds will help to support both centres in caring for and treating more people from the local area.
Dukes Field was given outline planning permission on October 2019. The new development which is set to launch online on Thursday (December 10) with the showhome opening to follow in early 2021, will see 80 one to five-bedroom homes built on land opposite Bosworth Academy.

We are really pleased that we are able to bring forward funds that will support care provision at local surgeries and ensure the schools teaching children from ages 5 to 18 in the area have the extra facilities needed. We are also providing funding to local highways and open spaces as part of the package which exceeds £1m.
