Rare development site next to cathedral hits the market

A development opportunity on a site next to Lincoln Cathedral has hit the market for £2.5m.

Savills, on behalf of Lincoln Diocese, is selling King Edward House in Minster Yard.

The Grade II listed building, built upon the Medieval foundations of the remains of the Bishop’s Palace dating back to 1727, comprises 26,934 sq ft set across three buildings along with 36 parking spaces.

Most recently used as a Diocesan retreat, offices and conference centre, the site is suitable for a number of alternative uses subject to planning consent, including residential, healthcare, leisure and educational.

Situated adjacent to Lincoln cathedral within the city centre conservation area, the property is located within a predominantly commercial mixed-use location within the heart of the tourist quarter.

Victor Ktori, head of office at Savills Nottingham, said: “This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a site of historical relevance with the potential for redevelopment. Given the property’s location in the shadow of the cathedral and with sweeping views over the city, we anticipate receiving a significant number of enquiries from potential purchasers who are keen to utilise the space whilst remaining sympathetic to the architecture of this truly unique site.”
