£22.7m residential scheme gets underway at former American Adventure site

Work has begun on a £22.7m residential scheme on the site of the former American Adventure Theme Park in Shipley, Derbyshire.

Avant Homes has started construction on 70 new homes at the seven-acre site, with the scheme forming part of the wider Shipley Lakeside development and the Amber Valley Borough Local Plan.

The Chesterfield-based housebuilder acquired the land in May this year.

A total of 307 new homes will be created at Shipley Lakeside. The first homes at the 44-acre mixed-use development are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The American Adventure Theme Park closed its doors in 2007.

Chris Coley, managing director at Avant Homes Central, said: “Shipley Lakeside is a fantastic opportunity to broaden our presence in Derbyshire in order to meet our ambitious growth plans for the business.

“Our 70-design-led homes will make a great addition to the regeneration of this landmark site and will become a flagship development for Avant Homes Central.

“We’re very pleased to have works underway on the first homes at Shipley Lakeside and look forward to seeing the build progress over the coming months.”
