Engineering services provider Edwin James Group has appointed a new managing director to preside over one of its three brands.

David Mallinson was previously group managing director at Lorien Engineering Solutions, a specialist engineering division of GP Strategies.

He now takes charge of Musk Process Services, where he will focus on growing the company’s process engineering and maintenance offering.

Musk, which has a base in Swadlincote, is one of a trio of Edwin James brands, the others being Burton-headquartered Parker Technical Services and Peak Technology Solutions, which, like Musk, has a site in Derbyshire.

Christopher Kehoe, chief executive officer at Edwin James Group, said: “We have ambitious growth plans. It’s vital that we capitalise on the opportunities that our combined proposition offers and we felt the time was right to bring in a managing director to oversee the combined Musk business.

“David will play a key role in identifying synergies and ensuring we continue to help our clients manage their assets through every phase of the lifecycle.”

Mallinson added: “I’m excited to be joining Musk at such a key time. The focus on delivering engineering excellence across the asset lifecycle is plain to see and the group already undertakes a lot of great work for an impressive list of clients. I’m looking forward to working with the Musk team and the wider business as we work together to deliver the next phase of growth.”

Acorn Safety Services, the Northampton-based health and safety consultancy, has appointed a new legionella and fire consultant.

Adam Midson brings a wealth of experience to the role, which will see him develop a new division of the company dedicated to legionella risk assessments and testing.

He said: “I am delighted to have joined the team at Acorn Safety Services at such an exciting time. Acorn has bold ambitions for the future, particularly around its legionella services, and I can’t wait to be part of it.

“I’ve spent many years working in the water industry, in plumbing and remedials and more recently gaining valuable experience carrying out legionella risk assessments.

“I’ve already been on the road meeting our clients face-to-face, and I’m really looking forward to developing these important relationships.”

Acorn director Neil Munro added: “We’re really pleased to have Adam on board. He is a real asset to the team, with a wealth of experience in many areas of health and safety.

“Adam will play a leading role in the development of this side of our business, helping clients new and old navigate the complex rules around legionella and helping to carry out risk assessments and management of water systems.”
