£32m mower distributor a cut above as it doubles Nottingham footprint

A Nottingham firm, which has become the go-to company for professional gardeners across the UK, has revealed a major expansion plan.

Henton & Chattell, which runs the Mower World distribution outlet just off London Road in the city, has taken a new 40,000 sq ft warehouse which it says will lead to further growth for the company, which was established in 1931 and employs 85 people.

The new warehouse has already created eight new jobs after a surge in demand for the Cobra and battery-powered EGO Power+ mowers. The firm now has plans to launch a significant new product range expansion for Cobra over the course of this year.

The new site doubles the capacity of the current premises, and will enhance services for Henton & Chattell’s 1,500-plus turf and garden machinery dealers across the country. The increased space means improved stock availability, streamlining the overall logistics of the company, its deliveries and order fulfilment.

Peter Chaloner, managing director, commented: “There are some really exciting times ahead for us all here at Henton & Chattell, not just with the new facility but also within the products we plan to bring to market in 2023. The acquisition of the new warehouse is a massive step in the company’s journey and hopefully, it is one of many more to come. We always pride ourselves on our commitment to our dealers and the ambition we have to deliver the best possible service to support them and their businesses. With this new increased capacity, we’ll be able to provide an even greater level of support that will improve operations all round.”

In its latest available accounts, made up for the year to September 30 2021, Henton & Chattell made a profit of just over £1m on the back of a 10% revenue increase to £32.2m.
