Indie restaurant chain reveals major expansion plans

An independent Indian restaurant chain with roots in the East Midlands has revealed plans to expand outside of the Midlands for the first time.
Tamatanga, which has venues in Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham, is set to open in Leeds in June and Sheffield later this year.
The chain has appointed Derby agency Alphageek Digital to provide marketing services ahead of the expansion.
Alphageek, which currently employs 20 people and is recruiting for additional team members, has been tasked with creating a new website for Tamatanga as well as a number of other digital marketing initiatives.
The firm, which is run by three friends, now looks after the online activity for more than 40 companies in four continents across a wide range of industries and its clients include HUUB, G-SHOCK, CUBO and Project D.
Tamatanga managing director Aman Kular said: “We are rapidly expanding and so need a digital marketing team that has the same level of enthusiasm that we have and Alphageek stood out from the four or five other agencies we saw.
“I felt they were really passionate about their work and that came across extremely well – they were keen to win our business and I just felt that they could relate to our target audience.
“I work 24-7 and I felt the Alphageek guys were motivated in the same way. It’s great to feel that you have genuine synergy with the people you are working with and I believe this collaboration means that our companies will grow together.
“Business is all about relationships and to do business with someone you need to get on with them. We were only supposed to meet Alphageek for 40 minutes but after two hours we were getting a really good vibe.”
Like Tamatanga, the Alphageek is expanding and has recently been recruiting for a new senior SEO specialist to assist in planning effective strategies to drive organic traffic to client websites as well as a full stack web developer, and photographer to join their content team.
Alphageek has recently added to its team with a technical lead, a paid marketing executive and an organic social media manager.
Business development director Alex Mills said: “We’re extremely ambitious at Alphageek and we’ve set out a pathway towards becoming the number one digital agency in the East Midlands, and that target is becoming more achievable with every week.
“Having studied in Nottingham we are all fans of Tamatanga – it’s young and vibrant and fits in brilliantly with our own ethos, so we are thrilled to have landed this contract and can’t wait to show them what Alphageek can do.
“It’s also exciting to work with brands that are expanding as quickly as we are. We are always keen to partner with other local progressive businesses and the next 12 months will be massive for both Tamatanga and Alphageek.”
