On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

The latest moves from across the region

Nottinghamshire-based manufacturer Doorcerts has appointed Sarah Armson as commercial manager.

Armson brings 17 years’ industry experience to the fire doors and frames specialist. She has been tasked with streamlining its admin and order processes, preparing the business for anticipated growth, creating and implementing recruitment strategies and raising awareness of the company amongst its target customers.

She said: “It’s exciting, and a challenge, to start at the beginning. The company only began life two years ago and you can already see that it has strong foundations.

“I can see the potential it has and I have seen the very real passion and drive that the founders have for the business.”

Kieran Percival, who founded the company along with Ian Maciejewski, said: “We’re delighted to have Sarah on board. We were impressed with her outstanding attention to detail, her organisation, and her experience in analysing financials and sales figures. We are confident that with Sarah, Doorcerts will fulfill the potential that it clearly has.”

Elsewhere, a former apprentice at Marshall Smalley Accountants who began his career at the age of 17 has become a chartered certified accountant.

Joshua Shaw joined the Gedling-based company ten years ago, and has now qualified with the firm after passing his ACCA exam.

He said: “I started working at Marshall Smalley Accountants when I was 17, not really knowing if accountancy was the right career for me. Now I am 27 and just became a fully qualified chartered certified accountant and haven’t looked back. I continue to enjoy my career and my time in my current role.

“This isn’t to say that the path hasn’t been hard work and required lots of determination and commitment to get me to where I am now, but I am glad to have gone through it and come through the other side.

“Marshall Smalley Accountants has provided me with support throughout my 10 years in accountancy and given me the opportunity of my current career path and gave me the opportunity fresh out of school to prove myself as a vital member of the team.

“I am now looking forward to the future of my career to develop my skills further and take the next steps in my role and start to take care of my own clients.”

Marshall Smalley Accountants offers a range of services including taxation, bookkeeping, payroll and vat. The company employs 16 people.
