Haulage firm shuts down after 70 years

A transportation business has revealed its plan to close following seven decades in business.

J R Marriott (Collingham) has declared its closure for August 31, marking the conclusion of its journey since opening in 1951.

The firm, renowned for its haulage and freight services, has headquarters at Brunel Drive in Newark.

It has been confirmed that retirement is the reason behind the closure, with just four employees remaining at the time of the company’s conclusion

The company will not be taking any more orders if they cannot be fulfilled before their closing date, August 31.

Managing director Clifford Dickens said: “It was our sincere effort to offer excellent customer service to our customers over the last 70 years and we hope we were successful in our endeavours.”
