Police continue investigation into EMA explosive claim

Police are continuing their investigation after a man claimed to have an explosive on a flight at East Midlands Airport.

Passengers on a Jet2 flight to Turkey on Monday were held on the plane for hours while armed police surrounded it.

The flight was delayed by about four hours after police escorted three individuals off the plane.

Video clips displayed armed officers positioned by the plane’s entrance, awaiting the departure of three passengers.

Leicestershire Police arrested a man on suspicion of having an explosive substance, however, the plane was thoroughly searched, and no explosives were found, leaving the arrested man released on bail.

On Wednesday (August 23), police stated that the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed related to the incident.
