Almost 500 jobs to be created as part of business park plans

Cartwright Lane in Sutton-in-Ashfield

The proposed expansion of a business park near Sutton-in-Ashfield on the Nottinghamshire-Derbyshire border could create 496 jobs.

The development, spanning 12.27 hectares, includes two Class A employment units with offices, parking, and service yards.

This expansion marks the second phase of the existing Park 38 business estate adjacent to the A38.

While the planning documents do not specify the potential occupants of the proposed buildings, Q+A Planning Ltd consultants have indicated that the development could generate a diverse range of jobs, spanning from entry-level positions to managerial, administrative, and high-tech roles in computing, software, and robotics.

While a portion of the land currently falls under HS2 Safeguarding Direction, developers anticipate its removal next year following the government’s decision to abandon the remaining HS2 project.

The planning application is currently awaiting review by Ashfield District Council.
