Network Rail seeks bids for £2.5bn deals in Midlands and Eastern region

The infrastructure provider has issued an invitation for firms to submit bids for a £1.1bn framework for Reactive and Small Scheme works, including its building and civil assets within the Eastern Region over a five-year period.

The selected firms will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including geotechnical work, maintenance of bridges and tunnels, management of rock cuttings and earthworks, as well as handling reactive smaller-scale projects related to buildings and structures.

In the Midlands, Network Rail has alerted firms about a significant alliance deal worth £1.4bn.

This alliance aims to execute the Midlands Rail Hub program, involving major works across the West, Central, and East Midlands.

As the client, Network Rail is looking for two primary alliance partners to handle £1bn of non-signalling works and £350m for signalling works.

The scope of the project includes designing and building new platforms and sidings, introducing up to two new chords into Birmingham Moor Street, widening existing viaducts, upgrading the power supply, creating new freight loops, installing new overhead line equipment (OLE), and various signalling works, including re-modelling existing layouts.

The Midlands Rail Hub will follow an alliance delivery model, with the two partners working under an NEC4 Alliance Contract.
