Major plan to construct over 1,100 homes in North Nottinghamshire

A planning application has been submitted for the construction of over 1,100 homes on the outskirts of Worksop, Nottinghamshire, along with a new school and shops.

The proposed development, covering 64.57 hectares of farmland, aims to include 6.5 hectares of employment land, 2.5 hectares for school buildings and a local centre with a community hub and shops.

The project, led by Hallam Land Management Ltd, envisions the completed estate supporting over 1,000 jobs and generating approximately £2.2m in annual council tax payments for Bassetlaw District Council.

Additionally, the project plans to introduce a new road connecting the A60 Carlton Road and the B6405 Blyth Road, aiming to alleviate congestion in the area.

Proposed designs indicate designated spaces for sports pitches, allotments, and ecological elements like native woodlands, wetlands, and grasslands

The designated zone was earmarked for development primarily focused on residential use in the forthcoming Bassetlaw Local Plan 2020-2038.

In a planning document, IBA Planning on behalf of Hallam Land Management Ltd, said: “The new development will have a strong coherent design theme, which positively reflects and enhances the local context and character.

“It will be derived from the local traditional building styles through modern interpretations of local character.” The planning application is pending consideration by Bassetlaw District Council.
