Coffee shop and bakery reveals restaurant ambitions with funding drive

How the inside of the new Carrington Street venue could look

A West Bridgford indie coffee shop, bakery and sometime wine bar has launched a Kickstarter appeal to try and raise the funds it needs to open as a restaurant in the evenings in Nottingham city centre.

ØKENDE opened on Gordon Road in West Bridgford in October 2018, and now wants to open its new Carrington Street premises in Nottingham as a restaurant from Wednesday to Saturday.

The company is hoping to raise £30,000 to complete the works needed at Carrington Street and open up fully.

A statement on ØKENDE’s Kickstarter page says: “The larger space will enable us to extend our evening opening hours from the current two nights a week, to four at Carrington Street. Giving you the opportunity to come for pizza or pasta in the city centre Wednesday through to Saturday.

“Our bakers have desperately outgrown our 6m x 3m converted garage bakery and we can’t wait to give them the space and room they need to fully showcase their skills. With this comes more pastries, a wider range of products on the counter every day and the ability to supply our pastries further across Nottingham.
