Hundreds of jobs lost as The Body Shop closes 75 stores
The Body Shop has revealed which stores are set to close, resulting in 489 jobs going over the next four to six weeks.
Whilst 116 shops will continue trading, 75 stores will be shut by the beauty and skincare retailer, adding to the seven stores that were immediately closed on February 20.
Plans were announced to shut around half of the stores, as well as a 40% reduction in head office roles to bring the total number of HQ staff down to 400, after the company was placed into administration.
Private equity firm bought the chain just three months ago in a deal thought to be worth £207.
With 200 stores across the UK and more than 2,000 staff, The Body Shop was owned by L’Oreal from 2006 to 2017, before being sold to Brazilian cosmetics group Natura.
