3,000 homes to be built on historic estate
Up to 3,000 homes are set to be built in the East Midlands after Persimmon Homes completed the purchase of land from Trustees of the Althorp Estate.
Some 1,933 of these homes will be built by Persimmon Homes, 967 homes by David Wilson Homes and 100 to be managed by West Northamptonshire Council at Harleston Grange.
The deal has been a major £28m Section 106 agreement reached, while 8,000 new trees will also be planted.
Zac Hurst, managing director for Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “This is a hugely exciting development that will not only unlock a whole host of new homes for local people, but will also generate significant job opportunities throughout the lifespan of the project and leave lasting community benefits.
“Work is set to begin imminently on site, and we are proud to have hit this milestone in what will be a beautiful, thriving new development on an historic estate.”
