Derby County seek new investors to boost Championship hopes

The owner of Derby County, who rescued the club from administration in June 2022, is looking for fresh investment into the club to help it compete in the Championship.
According to reports in The Telegraph, David Clowes could sell up to 80% of his stake in The Rams to a “serious and proper party” – but would stay on as chairman if any deal went through.
The Telegraph says that Clowes has been in talks with a number of potential investors from around the world after saving the club from oblivion two years ago.
A source said: “David made it clear from the moment he took control of the club that he was open and willing to discuss external investment as long as that investment aligned with the club’s existing business model and principles.
“Over the last few months there have been several interested parties looking at a serious investment proposition but the club have taken no definitive position on those discussions.”
The Rams’ fortunes have been transformed since Clowes bought the club. They were promoted from League One last season and sit tenth in tenth in the Championship. They host Norwich City at the Pride Park Stadium on Saturday.
