Plans revealed to turn pub site into student flats

How the scheme would look

New plans to turn a disused Nottingham city centre pub site into student flats have been lodged with the city council.

The proposal, by East India Properties, would see the Nottingham Legend, which closed in June 2023, turned into a six-storey scheme that include 59 cluster and studio flats.

Franklin Ellis is the architect on the scheme, which is on Lower Parliament Street.

Under the plans, the pub would be demolished.

Planning permission was granted in October 2021 for a five-storey student accommodation scheme of 40 student studios. The scheme, derided at the time for its design, was never realised.

A planning statement from Franklin Ellis reads: “The proposed scheme has been developed to provide a high quality, contemporary, purpose-built student accommodation scheme.

“The development of the proposed scheme is designed to make a positive architectural contribution to the immediate streetscape, in line with the regeneration of the wider area.”
