Work on track for 320-bed student scheme in Nottingham

Construction is well underway on a 323-bedroom student accommodation development on Talbot Street, Nottingham.

The £25.8m project, located at 77 Talbot Road, is set to open in September 2025.

The nine-storey building replaces a former office block and will offer en-suite bedrooms, shared social spaces, a gym and a cinema room.

Upper-level studio apartments will have larger layouts and views across the city.

Efforts are being made to meet sustainability targets, including a BREEAM Excellent rating and measures to protect Nottingham’s sandstone bedrock.

Around 40% of the workforce has been sourced locally.

McLaren Construction, leading the project, has collaborated with Nottingham’s universities to provide site visits and work placements for civil engineering students.

The team has also supported local businesses and community initiatives.

As work continues, key next steps include completing internal finishes, installing furniture, and finalising external paving ahead of the September 2025 opening.

Darren Harding, division director at McLaren Construction said, “The Talbot Street project is progressing exceptionally well, and we are proud to be delivering high-quality, sustainable accommodation for students that will enhance Nottingham’s offering.

“The completion of the roof and the opening of the marketing suite mark key achievements, and we are excited to continue bringing this ambitious development to life in the coming months.”
