Nottingham City Council secures extra £4.6m for local growth

Nottingham City Council has secured an additional £4.6m through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), allowing it to continue investing in local residents, communities and businesses until 31 March 2026.
Allocated by the East Midlands Counties Combined Authority (EMCCA), the extended funding supports the Council’s ongoing focus on empowering communities, fuelling business growth and boosting skills across the city.
The UKSPF programme in Nottingham will continue to focus on six key areas: supporting the development of local communities and employment, improving city centre and neighbourhood spaces, backing the visitor economy, encouraging inward investment, helping businesses grow and developing essential skills, including digital and green capabilities.
Councillor Ethan Radford, deputy leader and portfolio holder for skills growth and economic development said: “We’re delighted that Nottingham has secured an extension to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This significant investment will help us continue to invest in our people, our places, and our businesses – making sure that local communities benefit from new opportunities and support. We want to hear from organisations who can play a key role in driving inclusive growth and helping Nottingham move towards a greener, more prosperous future.”
Grant applications are now open to local communities and businesses.
Several community support grants have already been launched, including the Essential Skills Grant on 7 April and the Community Venues and Spaces Grant and Community Engagement Grant on 9 April, with a Winter Support Grant is scheduled for September.
Business-focused support will follow in May, with both a Business Productivity Grant and a Decarbonisation Grant.
So far, £1.6m has already been allocated to projects aimed at supporting employment and business growth, with the Council aiming to ensure the UKSPF continues to do this across Nottingham.
