Henry Brothers lands £22.5m schools project

Beeston-based Henry Brothers has landed a contract that could be worth £22.5m.
The firm has been chosen by Derbyshire County Council to a develop a new, single-site secondary school for Glossopdale.
The plans for the school include bringing three separate school sites into a new development on Newsham Lane, Hadfield.
Part of the funding for the new school will come from the sale of the Talbot House site and the Upper School site, both on Talbot Road, Glossop.
Glossopdale Community College head teacher, Steve Playford said: “We’re all very excited about the plans for the new school. We have consulted with students, parents, staff and the community on the plans which will enable us to have an outstanding learning centre at the heart of the community. The community deserves a newly-built school fit for the 21st century.”
Ian Taylor, managing director for Henry Brothers Midlands said: “This project represents an excellent opportunity for Henry Brothers to deliver a truly outstanding new build secondary school at the heart of the Glossopdale community.”
The planning application for the new school is expected to be considered in the early summer.
The Henry Brothers team includes DLA Architects, Curtins Structural and Civil Engineers and CPW Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.
