B&M completes university cafe extension

B&M Installations has managed the expansion of the café store room at the University of Nottingham’s Hallward Library, on University Park.

The café required a larger store room to help keep up with demand.

The four-week contract included the removal of two existing internal stud partitions and the reconfiguration of the layout, as proposed in the original designs. Work also included the expansion of the kitchen store, new flooring, frosted glass fitting, space alterations, electrical installations and alteration to the short-term loans library side; including new veneered oak cladding to match the building interior.

Project manager at B&M Installations Dan Belfield said: “We have a fantastic working relationship with the University of Nottingham and we were delighted to work on the Hallward café.

“Like many of the university’s projects, they required high-end quality which we recognise as we have a long-standing working relationship with the client.

“This particular project was quite challenging taking place in a work environment and with strict deadlines.

“It was crucial that we adhered to these deadlines, with a high standard of workmanship throughout the duration of the project.”

Stavros Pourikas, project manager at the University of Nottingham, added: “We extended the library kitchen to improve the facilities for the catering team and ultimately improve the experience for students. This extension however, backed onto the main library area so it needed a really high quality finish, which B&M has provided. Working with B&M Installations was so straightforward and both catering staff as well as library staff have been satisfied with the end result.”
