Nottingham graduate takes the chair at PwC
PwC, the business advisory firm, has announced the election of former University of Nottingham student Kevin Ellis as its new chairman and senior partner in the UK and Middle East.
The role will last for four years starting from 1 July.
Ellis is currently the firm’s managing partner and has been a member of the executive board since 2008. A partner in the firm for 20 years, he has held numerous leadership roles including head of advisory from 2008 to 2012.
He will succeed Ian Powell, who retires from PwC on 30 June after serving the maximum two four year terms as chairman and senior partner with a career spanning 39 years with the firm.
Ellis said: “I’m honoured to have been elected as Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC in the UK and Middle East. This is an exciting time for PwC and it is a privilege to lead our 20,000 people as we work together to take our firm from strength to strength.
“I will remain focused on delivering the best of PwC to our clients while continuing to invest in our people, skills and technology – all of which are key to our future success. Helping our clients respond to the opportunities of a digital age by giving them access to high quality teams and innovative services is vital.
“I also recognise the importance of PwC’s market leadership position and the responsibilities that brings, especially in respect of the wider contribution that we make to society. For example, our work on critical issues such as rebuilding public trust in business is extremely important to me.
“Ian Powell has led PwC through a very successful eight years and I’d like to thank him for all he has done in building such a strong firm.”
Powell added: “I’ve seen at first hand Kevin’s energy, enthusiasm and commitment to our clients and people. He has made a significant contribution to the leadership of the UK firm over the past eight years and brings the right qualities, experience and skills to lead the firm to continued success.
“At a time of rapid technological change and economic opportunity I am certain that Kevin will provide strong leadership.”
