Nottingham-based contractor Willmott Dixon is celebrating after raising an astonishing £122,000 for charity in just 24 hours as part of a staff challenge.

The Apprentice-style task pitted teams against one another to help raise funds for homelessness charity Shelter with staff undertaking everything from silent auctions to hitting the streets with collection boxes in a bid to beat their colleagues.

Nick Heath, operations director at Willmott Dixon in the East Midlands, said: “We divided the staff up into a number of different teams who were all tasked with raising as much money as they could for Shelter during the course of the day, with a target of £10,000 for each team.

“We couldn’t quite believe just how much money we raised throughout the course of just one day – and the total continues to climb as more and more people donate to this hugely worthwhile cause, it’s quite overwhelming.”

PwC & Loros - 1PwC in the East Midlands has helped to raise £2,400 for LOROS Hospice, a local charity that cares for over 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland every year.

PwC hosted its third annual quiz night for the charity in Leicester at The Parcel Yard on Tuesday, 26 April 2016. With nearly 100 people attending from 15 local organisations, £2,400 was raised through entry fees and raffle tickets. This will then be match-funded by PwC to bring the total amount raised to £4,800.

All the proceeds will go directly to LOROS to help the charity deliver free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers.

Employees at Domestic & General’s Nottingham office have donated their time, clothing, toiletries, washing machines and more over the course of this year while also raising an impressive £6,800 for their chosen charity.

The appliance care firm in Talbot Street named homeless charity, The Friary, as its local chosen charity for 2015, as voted for by employees. Based in West Bridgford, The Friary was set up more than two decades ago to help the homeless, boost employment skills and provide companionship. In that time, it has helped hundreds of vulnerable people – supporting them to get back into work and turn their lives around.

The final fundraising amount by employees of £6,800 includes a £5,000 company contribution from Domestic & General.

Clayton & Brewill abseilClayton & Brewill, one of Nottingham’s oldest independent accountancy firms, is marking its 70th anniversary with a pledge to raise thousands for local charity the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The firm’s fundraising got underway with a charity abseil event on Thursday 21 April, when 10 members of staff and two clients faced their fear of heights to abseil down The Roaches in Derbyshire, raising over £2,500 for its chosen charity.

Established in 1946, Clayton & Brewill has chosen the Air Ambulance as the focus for its anniversary fundraising

The Allied Irish Bank (GB) Nottingham business centre has donated £2500 to Nottinghamshire YMCAs scholarship fund.

The scholarships are used to ensure that families who might not be able to pay for a place at Camp Williams still have the opportunity to take part.

Gill Turnbull, director of finance at Nottinghamshire YMCA said: “We have a strong relationship with AIB (GB). They’ve worked with us behind the scenes to support our work in the community.”

“We are delighted to be able to offer even more children and young people the chance to thrive in the school holidays at Camp Williams.”
