Itsu set to re-think Nottingham launch plans

Itsu, the Asian-inspired restaurant chain, is set to re-think its plans for a Nottingham launch.

Itsu, which was set up in 1997 by Pret a Manger founder Julian Metcalfe, looked set to open in the former USC unit on Clumber Street in Nottingham after submitting a planning application to the City Council to alter the signage on the building.

However, Itsu has now withdrawn this application and has confirmed to TheBusinessDesk.com that it is looking elsewhere in the city.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Whilst we are not pursuing that particular property we are still excited at the prospect of opening in Nottingham and are currently looking at further properties in the city.

“Once a site has been secured we’ll be able to update on opening plans.”

Itsu now has over 60 shops in London and a shop in Cambridge, on Oxford’s Cornmarket Street, Reading, Richmond, Westfield London, Stansted Airport and its flagship restaurant, itsu [dining]. The firm recently opened in Leeds.
