In last week’s round-up I said things appeared to be settling down a little; of course this week proved me wrong.
Our best-read story this week was the news that food giant 2 Sisters’ Pizza Factory in Nottingham is set to make around 350 people redundant. 2 Sisters have been quiet on the plans to axe the jobs, but we’ll have an update from the Unite union on our Monday morning newsletter.
In second place – better news. Fast-rising Derby law firm Knights is celebrating reaching £21m in revenues for the first time. Ambitious firm Knights opened its seventh office in Derby one year ago and it says it is now on track to reach £40m in revenues by 2017.
In third was our exclusive on the Northants engineering business that was sold out of administration last month which collapsed owing nearly £1m to unsecured creditors. European Drives and Motor Repairs of Wellingborough was sold to UNIS for just £86,400 in July – however, 27 jobs were lost.
A mixed week, you could say…
