Nottingham nightclub announces shock closure

A Nottingham nightclub which was home to some of the East Midlands’ most popular comedy and student nights has announced it is closing.

The Forum, in the city’s Cornerhouse leisure complex, announced its closure on its Facebook page, plunging the future of the Just the Tonic comedy club into doubt.

The Forum was also home to student night Dirty Mondays. A statement said this night will continue at another venue in the city.

The Forum’s owners said: “After 8 years, 2,500 parties, 1.7 million Jagerbombs, 500,000 bottles of vodka and a whopping 2,200,000 hangovers The Forum is now CLOSED!!

“We’ve had some great times but now the drink is drunk and the brain is shot we’ve decided to call it a night… let’s face facts, it was getting pretty minging in there anyway.

We’d like to thank all our friends and regulars for some unforgettable moments; we’ve won both best and worst club awards over the years so we would like to think at some point we’ve made everyone happy!

“Love it or hate it, the Forum will has been a part of Nottingham’s nightflife history and for that we say… THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT.”

The Forum held around 1,000 people.
