Fearless Foxes exhibition gets ready for 100,000th visitor

A record-breaking exhibition that tells the story of Leicester City’s Premier League-winning season is set to welcome its 100,000th visitor this weekend – just before it comes to the end of its run.

With more than 96,000 people passing through the doors of New Walk Museum & Art Gallery since the Fearless Foxes exhibition opened in June, and with half-term boosting daily visitor numbers, museum staff believe that the landmark figure could be reached on Sunday (23 October) – the last day of the exhibition.

“Attracting 100,000 visitors to a temporary exhibition isn’t something you do very often,” said Matthew Constantine, the city council’s collections, interpretation and learning manager.

“But this exhibition seems to have captured the imagination of football fans of all ages and of all backgrounds – both from Leicester and from further afield.

“The story of Leicester City’s fairytale season is clearly an irresistible one – and it’s a story that we are very proud to have told.”

The 100,000th visitor will be presented with a poster signed by Foxes’ manager Claudio Ranieri and a number of other goodies, including a family ticket for the city council’s Bonfire Night celebrations at Abbey Park.

Anyone who hasn’t visited the exhibition yet, or who wants to see it all again, has just a few days left to enjoy its fabulous photographic displays and memory-provoking artefacts.

The bell given to Claudio Ranieri at a club press conference, an LCFC Buddhist prayer flag and Filbert Fox’s football kit have all proved popular with visitors – and three new items, donated by Mr Ranieri on his visit to the exhibition last week, have now also gone on display.

As well as a training top and a club tie from last season, the Foxes’ boss added his own personal message to the wall of memories that’s been created by fans.

The free exhibition is in the main, temporary exhibition gallery on the first floor of New Walk Museum.

Opening hours are 10am-5pm from Monday to Saturday, and 11am-5pm on Sunday.
