Travel alert: Delays between Worksop and Nottingham after freight failure

Rail passengers travelling on the Worksop to Nottingham route this morning are set for delays after a freight train has broken down on the line between Mansfield Woodhouse and Nottingham.

A statement from East Midlands Trains this morning said: “At present arrangements are being made for the broken down freight service to be rescued. We do not yet know how long this will take.

“All of our trains on the route cannot run in either direction between Shirebrook and Worksop. Where possible we are running a limited shuttle train service between Nottingham and Shirebrook.

“At present we are expecting the line to fully reopen in the next 2-3 hours. Our normal train service is expected to resume on the affected route at around 0900.

“We are currently arranging for rail replacement buses to run between Worksop and Nottingham.”
