YourNews: Trent sports teams start the season strong in partnership with FHP

Nottingham Trent University’s sports teams begin the New Year after a strong start in the first term, and look set to continue this into 2017.

Currently sat in 13th place in the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) national rankings, teams from across the University will soon return to the fields, courts and pitches after the Christmas break in their iconic pink kit, emblazoned with the FHP Student Living logo, the Nottingham based student-lettings specialist.

Now in its second year, the sponsorship will continue to play a pivotal role in the success of NTU’s sports teams, with money from the deal being allocated to fund different clubs.

James Hayter, director of sport at Nottingham Trent University said:

“We’ve had a really successful season so far, with both the men’s football and rugby teams at the top of their respective leagues this season, as well as the women’s basketball squad.

“Our sponsorship with FHP Student Living, means that we’re able to access the city’s best facilities which has improved training. New equipment has been purchased, transportation and accommodation have become more accessible, and further coaching has been provided.”

David Hargreaves, director at FHP Student Living said that the sponsorship has been a huge success so far, and stressed the importance of sport in the lives and well-being of students:

“I’m thrilled to be continuing our sponsorship with the sports teams at Nottingham Trent University. With sport playing such an important role in student-life, I see this as just another way of supporting the students of Nottingham so they can get the most from their university experience.”

FHP are sponsors of other sport in the city, also supporting Beeston Hockey Club, with some of FHP Student Living’s tenants appearing in the starting eleven, and representing England in the under 21’s.

David, adds:

“We have a keen interest in sport at FHP, a lot of the skills required to work in a sports team are transferrable into the property industry. Some of our staff are part of Rugby, Cricket and Cycling clubs, and a few have actually coached and played at representative level, so we are really keen for our sporting ethos to show in the city.”
