A dementia care home has opened its doors, creating 50 jobs, after the completion of the £10m development.

WCS Care’s first residents have moved into Castle Brook in Kenilworth. The home has the capacity to provide specialist care for 84 people, who are split into households of 14 people. It also has double apartments for couples or relatives wanting to stay together.

Christine Asbury, chief executive of WCS Care, said: “We’re delighted with Castle Brook and the positive impact this has already had for residents and their families.”

WCS Care, which is headquartered in Kenilworth, now operates 13 homes across the West Midlands. The addition of Castle Brook is expected to boost the group’s turnover to £16m.

34 residents will relocate from WCS’s Woodside home in Warwick, which will be replaced by a new facility to care for up to 72 older people and people with dementia.

Work on the Warwick site is expected to start in June, subject to planning permission, which has received £5.9m finance facilities from Royal Bank of Scotland.

The bank also supported the Castle Brook development with a funding package.
