THE UK arm of a Dutch green energy firm has moved its base in Warwickshire just two years after coming to the region.
Eneco has left the Warwick Innovation Centre, at the University of Warwick Science Park, to move just a couple of miles away to Tachbrook Park, near Warwick.
Tachbrook Park is run by Leamington Spa firm AC Lloyd Asset Management and has businesses such as Holiday Inn and Wright Hassall Solicitors in situ.
Eneco specialises in building wind farms and, since setting up here in 2008, has constructed 17-turbine Farm at Tullo, in Aberdeenshire, and is in the process of creating another near Inverness.
It also recently beat several large rivals to secure the contract to build a wind farm with 200 turbines off the coast of the Isle of White – hence the need to move its base.
Guy Madgwick, of Eneco, said: “We set up at the Innovation Centre two years ago, after looking at about six different sites, with the aim of building wind farms in the UK.
“Since that time we have recruited around 12 members of staff to help us deliver all of our projects and outgrew our space which meant, regretfully, we had to look for self-contained offices elsewhere.
“Our time at the Innovation Centre was very good, we enjoyed being there very much, and we had a great relationship with the centre’s staff.”
The company has 12 employyes and is now looking to increase its workforce gradually by adding high-level graduates to its team while maintaining links with nearby universities.
Warwick Innovation centre manager John Barnes added: “Eneco’s move and the success story behind it is a glowing endorsement of the services provided by the University of Warwick Science Park.
“We are extremely proud of Eneco’s achievements and we are sure they will continue to thrive at their new home.”
