Major step forward for 500,000 sq ft business park

A new business park that will be home to 500,000 sq ft of employment space has taken a major step forward.
Rula Developments has completed the acquisition of a 39-acre site in Bingham, Nottinghamshire, from The Crown Estate.
The site, called Bingham 46, has outline consent. It is one of Rushcliffe Borough Council’s key employment allocations and will include trade counters, offices, manufacturing, warehousing, general industrial as well as roadside use.
Subject to planning units of between 10,000 sq ft and 350,000 sq ft will be built. All buildings at the proposed scheme will be designed to accommodate Photo Voltaics (PV) on the roofs and will typically utilise air source heat pumps and low energy LED lighting, which will help to reduce the operational impact of the scheme. The scheme will target a minimum A Rated EPC and BREEAM Excellent.
A masterplan is being developed and Rula will soon be submitting a reserved matters application for necessary infrastructure, new entrance, associated 278 works, structural landscaping and drainage features.
Mark Hawthorne, development director at Rula Developments, said: “Having grown up locally, my vision for the development is to provide a high quality business environment in this attractive setting and deliver best in class accommodation to attract both local and regional businesses, who want to base their business in the heart of the East Midlands and benefit from the excellent road links the site provides and access to a growing skilled work force.”
Savills and M1 Agency are joint agents on the scheme.
Victor Ktori, head of the commercial agency team at Savills Nottingham, added: “The scale and location of the site creates an opportunity to deliver a high quality mixed commercial development, suitable for national and regional and local occupiers and creating a compelling legacy for the local area with sustainable, high quality employment opportunities and associated job creation.”
