Work begins on £15m teaching block

Work has begun on-site constructing a new £15m teaching facility at the University of Nottingham.

Gleeds will be providing project management services for the development which was commissioned as part of a £500m capital investment plan.

Designed by architectural practice, Make, the project will see a 5,000 sq m teaching facility built at the University Park campus. The new building will be situated next to the Hallward Library and will comprise a range of teaching facilities, as well as staff and student amenities.

James Marshall, Gleeds director based in Nottingham, said: “The new facilities seek to provide an improved educational experience and, once complete, will help to attract both national and international students to the city of Nottingham. We are delighted to be involved in this project and look forward to see the ambitious plans come to fruition.”

David Patterson, partner at Make added: “This will be a beautiful building on a beautiful campus. We are aiming to create an inspiring environment for both students and teachers and one which will accommodate current and future demands for light, vibrant, student-focused spaces.”

Construction is due to complete by the end of 2017.
