Confectionery retailer The Treat Kitchen has joined forces with fellow independent business The Nottingham Doughnut Company to help them expand further into the East Midlands.

Their hand-made doughnuts will now be available to enjoy at The Treat Kitchen store in Derby’s Intu shopping centre. Treat Kitchen owner, Martin Barnett, said: “Expansion for an independent business can be challenging so it’s great to be able to assist a fellow start-up business to reach customers in a new area of the country.”

The doughnut range will be launched in store on today on Black Friday featuring a selection of flavours such as Red Velvet, Salted Caramel, Death by Chocolate and Peanut Butter & Jam.

Martin’s co-owner, Jess Barnett, is optimistic about the new partnership with The Nottingham Doughnut Company. She said: “Their doughnuts are hugely popular in Nottingham so I’m thrilled that we are now able to offer them to doughnut fans in Derby, they will make an excellent addition to our range of sweets, gifts and hand-made fudge.”

The Treat Kitchen was supported by Nottingham based not for profit funding provider, First Enterprise, with a £25,000 loan to achieve strategic growth.

Neil Millington, loan fund manager at First Enterprise, said: “It is great to see Jess and Martin growing The Treat Kitchen business across the East Midlands. They had a clear vision of where they wanted to take the business and we are proud to have supported them when first approached for assistance last year.

“They are a great inspiration for other entrepreneurs and those looking to follow their career dreams. It is good to see The Treat Kitchen joining forces with The Nottingham Doughnut Company.”
