A Derbyshire-based haulage company has started its £1m expansion programme, with a £160,000 investment in new vehicles.

D&D Transport, based at Langley Mill, is a family-run business with more than 25 years’ experience in the haulage trade.

Delivering professional transport services across the UK and Europe, the firm has been required to expand its fleet due to significant growth.

As part of the investment programme, the firm has recruited an additional six staff and will be hiring another four in 2017. The team will also be moving in January to a larger site just down the road from its current premises, to enable future expansion and development.

The new three-acre site will be able to accommodate 10 new trailers alongside the two-new range T trucks from Nottingham’s RH Commercial Vehicles (RHVC).

D&D currently has a fleet of 25 – 23 of which are Renaults and the firm has plans in place to purchase another specialist truck next year with a 50-ton crane attached.

Dave Palmer, managing director at D&D Transport, said: “We are currently undergoing an excellent year of growth at D&D and as a result, we need to ensure we are investing wisely in our ongoing expansion and development. We have increased our fleet and will be moving from our half-acre premises to a three-acre site next year, to allow for expansion and to secure the future growth of the business.

“The purchase of our two-new top of the range trucks from RHCV is our first investment in vehicles since 2014 and will ensure that we are offering our growing customer base a reliable and dedicated service across the country.”
